ABSTRACT:The use of sewage sludge in agriculture is regulated to avoid harmful effects on soils of some heavy metals. In European legislation limit values for amounts of metals wich may be added annually are based on a 10 year average. This work is to study the increase in total and available copper, zinc, nickel and lead in two agricultural soils after repeated application of doses of sewage sludge allowed by Spanish regulations. Nevertheless, our results show that soil limits for total copper, zinc, nickel and lead are reached with quantities of sewage sludge clearly inferior to that theoretically allowed for a ten year period. |
