PHYTOSANITARY WARNING

20/03/2009

GRAPEVINE
Mildew:

Plasmopara vitícola - Oospore germinationThe oospore germination took place in every grapevine growing area in Pontevedra province. However, it is not necessary to treat, since environmental conditions adequate for infections to occur did not take place.

APPLE TREE
Wooly Apple aphid:

Wooly aphid in the beginning of bud breakWe have already observed the first colonies of this dangerous aphid in our trees. Colonies detected were not parasitized, and in fact the parasitoid is normally active with higher temperatures. There is not any registered insecticide specific for the control of this aphid; in case an application is needed, another insecticide registered for apple trees should be applied, at a high pressure and wetting the wood completely.

Carpocapsa pomonella:

In the monitoring plots established at the end of the summer to determine adult emergence in Spring, we have not observed the first specimens. It is not necessary to treat. .

OAK
Altica quercetorum:

Shoot development of oaks should be monitored to detect the early attack of this chrysomelid causing defoliation of oaks. In the last vegetative period, their populations were high in summer in some places, due to an uncontrolled attack that took place in Spring. Consequently, in case any damage is observed, it is advised to treat with registered insecticides: deltamethrin or flufenoxuron.
