ABSTRACT:At the end of 2004 the Estación Fitopatolóxica do Areeiro (EFA) detected for the first time in Galicia, the presence of Fusarium circinatum, quarantine pathogen in the A2 EPPO List, on seeds and on Pinus spp. nursery plants. Thus, the EFA in collaboration with the General Direction of Forestry and Forestry Industries of the Galician Government, carried out an exhaustive survey of Pinus spp. in plant nurseries, seeds and stands, collecting different plant material - seeds, nursery plants, wood with pitch canker, flowers and pine cones - to determine the distribution and dissemination of the fungus in Galicia.
In the present work, the partial results of the survey of 372 seed samples - 139 lots belonging to seed nurseries and 233 from pine cones of adult trees- from Pinus pinaster, P. radiata and P. sylvestris are shown; detecting the presence of F. circinatum in 40% of the samples as well as other Fusarium species, among them Fusarium proliferatum and F. verticillioides. In the present work the Fusarium species detected and the degree of incidence in the seeds of the analyzed pine species were described.
