ABSTRACT: Phytophthora ramorumwas recently identified as the main causal agent of the syndrome known as SOD (Sudden Oak Death), which causes sudden death of several species of Quercus , mainly in USA, Phytophthora ramorum is currently found in the EPPO Alert List. In 2001, Phytophthora ramorum was identified on Rhododendron and Viburnum in the Netherlands, Germany and UK, causing spots on leaves, death of leaves and twigs. Measures against these pathogens were adopted in these countries.
